Martha E. Cox, Conductor Emerita

Early Martha 3000   Martha Cox was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She holds degrees in
Instrumental Music Education and Conducting from the Universities of Wisconsin and
Michigan, where she studied with H. Robert Reynolds. Martha served as music director
for Jackson Hole High School, Jackson, Wyoming, and Lakewood High School,
Jefferson County. She seized the opportunity to work with dedicated, sophisticated
musicians in a community setting when asked to conduct the Colorado Wind Ensemble,
starting in its 1983 inaugural season. Martha guided the Colorado Wind Ensemble as
conductor and music director for twenty-one seasons, until her retirement from the group
in May, 2003.
