Welcome

It's a Small World
with guest soloist Nat Wickham, trombone

Friday, February 17, 7:30 p.m. at Littleton United Methodist Church
Saturday, February 18, 7:00 p.m. at Parker Arts, Culture & Events (PACE) Center

Guest artist Dr. Nat Wickham of the University of Northern Colorado joins the CWE in two performances, featuring Latitudes, a "concerto for today" with Latin rhythms, lyric melodies, and virtuoso technique by French composer Jerome Naulais. Music from around the world includes "Slavyanskaya," Symphony no. 3 by Boris Kozhevnikov, Hands Across the Sea by John Philip Sousa, and the premiere of Court Metrage by visiting French composer Laurent Jacquier. Every member of the family will enjoy the magical "Gandalf" from Johan de Meij's Lord of the Rings symphony, and the infectious Children's March by Percy Grainger. Please join us in one of two locations: Littleton United Methodist Church or the new PACE Center!

The Colorado Wind Ensemble is thrilled to announce that we will be performing two concerts at the beautiful Parker Arts, Culture, and Events (PACE) Center this season. CWE is honored to be named an artistic partner of the PACE Center, and we hope you will come and hear us in this fabulous new space!

As always, we are presenting a full concert season at our home venue, Littleton United Methodist Church, and will also appear at the Lakewood Cultural Center. We thank these wonderful venues for opening their doors to us, and are grateful for the unique concert experiences they make possible to us and our audiences.

"This was the first performance of the Colorado Wind Ensemble that I have heard . . . I came away wondering why this organization is not better known. They play so well that they can certainly promote its wind ensemble repertoire. There are members of this ensemble who are absolutely stellar members of some of the community orchestras in the Denver metro area, and when they are combined as members of the Colorado Wind Ensemble, this organization truly excels. Their playing is intensely musical, and there is no question that they take great pride in being true musicans." -- Robin McNeil
